One of the OSM's paradoxes, neither the only nor the most important one, is being both mature and young at the same time. This has been happening to us since the very moment of our foundation. At that first meeting in December 1903, held in one of the halls of the Teatro Real, where, among other things, it was decided that the new ensemble would be called the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the participants brought together the experience of the professors from the old Concert Society Orchestra with the inexperience of the Conservatory students.
And so, rooting ourselves in the first orchestra created in Spain, we set out on a path that hasn't always been smooth, but which has brought us, ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY YEARS later, to the present moment. A sweet moment in which we can celebrate our anniversary with the satisfaction of being an excellent orchestra. This is recognized by awards and critics, but above all, what is most important to us, it is confirmed daily by your applause. And with all those years behind us and all the ground covered, it seems as if we haven't moved: the OSM of 2023 remains the happy combination of the experience of the elders with the drive of the youngest.
The celebration of our anniversary will focus, as it could not be otherwise, on playing more and better. Our celebrations have always consisted of making the audience happy. At each of next year's events, we will have the opportunity to recall these 120 years and we will seek the formula to reward the loyalty of our subscribers.
We are also going to organize a well-deserved and necessary tribute to Maestro Enrique Fernández Arbós, who laid the foundations of what we are today in the first three decades of the OSM's history. We have a moral duty to remember and enhance his figure. We are going to celebrate for a whole year. Nothing would make us happier than to have you as our guests.
