Carmen is the last opera and masterpiece by Georges Bizet, based on the novel by Prosper Mérimée. This time it arrives at the Teatro Real with a production by Damiano Michieletto, which sheds new light on the lust, violence, and passion of the popular opera. The production will feature great voices such as Aigul Akhmethsina, who returns to the Teatro Real after her acclaimed performance as Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda, as well as artists of the caliber of Michael Fabiano, Charles Castronovo, and J’Nai Bridges. Leading the Titular Orchestra of the Teatro Real will be conductor Eun Sun Kim, the current music director of the San Francisco Opera and the first woman to conduct an opera at the Teatro Real after winning the first prize at the Jesús López-Cobos International Opera Conducting Competition in 2008.
