The Madrid Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1903 as a cultural association. For more than a century it has maintained this status with a spirit of continuous improvement that has allowed it to achieve and carry out its main purposes: to offer concerts, opera performances and any other artistic and musical manifestation, on its own or on behalf of others, to contribute directly to the promotion, dissemination and teaching of symphonic and vocal music in our country.

In this way, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra has worked to elevate the concept of art and the Spanish musical profession, adapting its statutes to different legislative changes. As an association, it sets its own operating rules and governs itself through representative bodies that are democratically elected among its members.
